Uganda has the world’s youngest population with over 78 percent of its population below the age of 30. With just under eight million youth aged 15-30, the country also has one of the highest youth unemployment rates in Sub-Saharan Africa. Although Uganda is making strides economically, it faces significant challenges in meeting its young people’s needs today and their challenges tomorrow. Unemployment rate for young people aged 15-24 is 83%, the rate is even higher for those who have formal degrees and diplomas and live in the urban areas.

 LevelUp is a program that gives young people the opportunity to develop digital skills they need for success.

We are on a mission to create limitless opportunities and create a leveled ground for young people passionate and willing to attain digital skills where-as create platform for them to express their attained skills. In other-wards, we don’t just skill young people, we look for potential platforms where they express their skills. We want to help young people dream, believe and achieve.

In 2021 during the Covid-19 lockdown, we launched the program with 2 youths, who are still undertaking the Graphics and photography courses. For the past few months, we have noted tremendous transformation in their lives. Digital skills can help tackle youth unemployment. In a world being transformed by technology, all youth should have the opportunity to develop the creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills gained by learning specialized digital skills.
